“We’ve realized from our own struggles… that being a Catholic parent really is a joyful duty, and that for all of the sufferings that we endure, we have so many joys. When you shift your perspective, you recognize that every moment of your day God is in control and every moment of your day He’s taking care of you and every moment of every day He is giving you the opportunity to get a little bit holier… The idea that ‘every moment can be a prayer’ has not only transformed Dave and me, but we’re also seeing the way it has changed our kids too.”
I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation I had with Christina Semmens from the “Say Yes to Holiness” podcast.
You can watch the full interview on Christina’s YouTube Channel.
When it comes to holiness, the title of Christina’s apostolate says it all – you have to “say yes.”
You have to choose – in every moment of every day – patience over anger, discipline over complacency, virtue over vice. You have to choose to make every moment a prayer.
The funny thing is, the more effort we have put into conscientiously pursuing a relationship with God, the lighter the other loads have seemed. The more time we’re spending in prayer and at Mass and Adoration, the MORE time (NOT LESS) we’ve had for the things that matter most for our family.
I hope that makes sense.
The choice to make every moment a prayer. The “fiat,” saying “yes” to holiness, is worth it. It’s absolutely worth it!
Thank you, Christina, for inviting me to share with you. I hope many parents benefit from our conversation and your wisdom!
